Overview

This practitioner's workbook is designed for professionals working in K-12 school settings who are interested in implementing cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) techniques. The book may provide guidance on adapting CBT for use with children and adolescents within the school environment. It is intended to be a practical resource that can be used alongside clinical training and supervision.

Who Might Benefit

School psychologists, counsellors, social workers, and other mental health professionals supporting students may find this resource useful. Educators and administrators involved in student support services might also benefit from the content. The workbook may be relevant for those at various levels of experience, from beginners to seasoned practitioners.

Potential Applications

CBT is an evidence-based approach that can help students manage anxiety, depression, and behavioural challenges. The workbook may include strategies for identifying unhelpful thought patterns and developing coping skills. It may also offer session plans and reproducible materials that can be used in individual or group settings. Common school-based applications of CBT include cognitive restructuring to challenge negative beliefs, behavioural activation to increase engagement, and exposure techniques for anxiety. The workbook likely provides a structured framework for delivering these interventions within typical school schedules and constraints.

About the Book

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in K-12 School Settings: A Practitioner's Workbook aims to bridge the gap between clinical CBT and the practical realities of school-based mental health. The book likely covers topics such as cognitive restructuring, behavioural activation, and skill-building, with an emphasis on developmental appropriateness. It may also address how to integrate CBT within school-wide frameworks like Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). The workbook is designed to be used flexibly, with adaptations for elementary and secondary students. Each chapter may build on core principles while offering practical considerations such as time management, confidentiality, and collaboration with teachers and families.
